My husband brought home this quote, cut out of our local paper. many may have heard it... and the point is not new to us either, but, It's the fact that this is "obviously true" in these times...that it hits right between the eyes. It made me catch my breath and brought tears... why? because it's validity is staggering.

More than 200 years ago the noted British historian, Alaxander Fraser Tyler wrote:
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can nly exist intill the voters discover that they can vote themselves, largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury witht he results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage."
   I believe that we are on the cusp of dependence back again into bondage.
   The real danger is an oligarchy of left wingers who would have us live under a "nanny government" that invariably leads to socialism and eventually (dare I say it?), communism.

Noelle, My Belle and Hobbes... the best pooch ever!

Noelle and her best bud, loyal pooch, Hobbes... at 13, looks like a pup... Hobbes has lost his hearing and is thus nervous a lot...but he does his best, and we do our best to make things easy for him...
He's been the best pet anyone could ask for and brought us so much joy... dedicated to you Hobbsie :)
